Independent Contractor

The are two types of independent contractor agreements for companies to use when outsourcing work instead of having it done in-house by employees.

  1. Single Project. This type of independent contractor agreement is designed to be used when a business wants to retain a contractor on one specific project. Common single projects include website design, copywriting, and article writing.
  2. Multiple Projects. This legal form is for situations where a company wants a contractor to complete multiple projects over a period of time (e.g. 1 to 5 years). The form includes the work order for the first project to be completed by the contractor. The work order can be used as a template for ordering additional projects from the same contractor per the agreement.

Tip – Note that independent contractors are not employees and should not be treated as such by the companies that contract with them.
